Well it has been a few cruddy weeks for us in South Carolina. Rain, Rain, Rain. Our thoughts go out to our emergency services personnel, and those affected by the mass flooding.
A Gem of a bookstore....and they have COFFEE!!!!
This Saturday the kid and I went to a place we discovered a few weeks ago while doing some street photography in Camden, SC. Camden is a nice little town, and offers many opportunities to ditch the chain stores and support local families who run local businesses in our communities. Walking the streets in Camden there are tons of cool mom and pop stores and shops-antiques, guitars, ice cream, even a "real" Barber shop!
Books on Broad is well, AWESOME. When you walk in the door, you are greeted by walls lined with books and cushy armchairs. The front room is like a quaint den, quiet and relaxing. When you walk through the entrance to the second and main room of the bookstore, it is just as comfortable. The different sections are decorated by themes, and tables highlight new books-and they even have a brightly lit children's area. I have been there twice, and both times they have had something cool going on. Today there was a book signing, and even with the wet weather, they had a nice turnout.
Eat, Sleep, Read, LOCAL!Support the Locals! Main room, full of BOOKS!I really like the "Newspaper Dress" Children's AreaBright Colors and Kid sized Chairs! Awesome Employees!Friendly Staff is there to help with everything!
As much as I love books, and love the themes and atmosphere of the bookstore portion of Books on Broad, My favorite part is the coffee shop! AND not only do they have coffee, they have smoothies, snacks, and friendly people, what more can you ask for? I will tell you what-This Mom and pop shop GIVES BACK!
